Sewer Camera Inspection

A sewer camera is a waterproof camera attached to the tip of a flexible cable that is inserted into the pipes. At the other end of the cable is a video monitor which gives the plumber a live view of the areas the camera passes thru.

Sewer cameras are a great tool to aid plumbers find specific problems with your sewer pipes.

Typical problems a sewer camera finds include breaks in the lines, tree roots in the lines & stoppages in the lines. Sewer cameras are can also be used to locate a line or as a secondary tool to locate leaks in the pipes.

 

Diagnosis & Inspection

Troubleshooting plumbing and drainage issues can be tricky. Tell tale signs of leaky sewer pipes include:

  • Odd Sounds: The sound of constantly running water is a sign of trouble in the sewer line. Make sure you faucets are off and check the toilet. If you still heave trickling sounds in the walls or overheard, that constant flow through your plumbing system could be the result of leaks in the sewer pipes.

  • Moist Floor or Discoloration on the Ceiling: Your plumbing network snakes through the house with a system of connectors to the main sewer line. As seeping water pools around these connections, it causes damage and discoloration.

  • Unpleasant Odors: Unpleasant odors behind the walls are often caused by mold and mildew developing in damp spots. Leaky sewer lines create the perfect environment for bacteria growth. If the smell is outside, you may have faulty pipe leaking waste water into the yard

  • Cracks in your Home: Cracks in your foundation can result from the ground shifting caused by dripping sewer lines. As water pools in areas surrounding the leak, it saturates the soil and undermines the structural integrity of your foundation. Sewer leaks can also cause concrete sidewalks, driveways and patios to buckle.
